Fantasy Stay at the Delta Bessborough

I usually write about the amazing things that Saskatoon has to offer for Tourism Saskatoon or Toast Magazine. But I am on holiday, and therefore without assignment. So, I will write about my latest adventure for my own blog. On to it then! 

On Monday, December 21st, I received an email from Uniglobe letting me know that a secret Santa bought me a staycation at the historic Delta Bessborough. Thrilled, I chatted with Brian about what day would work for him and booked it for Sunday December 27th. 

We were excited, we packed our cozy pajamas, some fun games, and a bottle of wine. Ready to spend a lovely evening at the hotel. However, when we checked into the hotel we got more than we bargained for, The Vice Regal Suite. 

I honestly didn’t even know this room existed. It had a dining room, a living room, bedroom, and TWO bathrooms. It was bigger than my house, and gorgeous!  My cozy pajamas were NOT going to do the room justice. So, I did what any normal girl would do. I ran home to grab all my pretty dresses, four cameras, and a second bottle of wine. 

Brian is such a good sport. While I did outfit change after outfit change, he pressed the shutter button, posed with me and DJ’d the shoot. We kept speculating who else had stayed in the room before us. Maybe some rock stars? Royalty? 

Who dined at this table? Slept in this bed? Looked out this window? 

After a few quick shots (we had lost the light, short December days am I right?) we changed into our bathing suits and headed down to the sauna.  

After we got our sweat on, we had to run to CFCR to host our weekly radio show. We were still spinning with excitement about how amazing the room is! We hosted our radio show, ran back to the hotel, and ordered in a late dinner. 

We planned on drinking our second bottle of wine and playing some games, but the second our heads hit the pillows on the super comfy bed, we were out. We had the very best sleep we have had in a LONG time.  

The next morning, we lounged around the gorgeous room drinking coffee and taking in the splendour. We didn’t want to say good bye to the fantasy, not even long enough to grab breakfast, so we just enjoyed the room until we had to check out. 

If you every get the opportunity to stay at the Delta Bessborough, take it. If you get to stay in the Vice Regal Suite, enjoy every second of it, and take photos!
